Starlink’s Connectivity Business Grew 66%. What Should Accessory Resellers Do Next?

Starlink’s growth is real. For accessory resellers, the more important question is what to do with that growth.

SpaceX reported $4.291 billion in Connectivity revenue for the second quarter of 2026, up 65.8% year over year. Starlink subscriber growth was approximately 101% year over year, while international expansion and lower-priced plans reduced blended subscriber ARPU.

For a distributor, this is encouraging—but it is not a reason to expand inventory blindly.

The accessory opportunity grows only when three things overlap: the right terminal, a real customer use case and a product that fits the exact installation environment.

The Headline Is Growth. The Operating Challenge Is Product Fit.

More Starlink users can create more demand for mounting, power, storage and integration products. But an accessory does not inherit the size of the entire Starlink user base.

A Starlink Mini vehicle mount, for example, only serves customers who:

  • actually own or are buying Starlink Mini;
  • need a vehicle installation;
  • have an installation environment the product is designed to serve;
  • accept the final price and channel proposition.

That is why subscriber growth should be treated as a category signal, not a purchase-order formula.

Use the Three-Confidence Rule Before Increasing Stock

1. Demand confidence

Do customers want this exact product?

Useful evidence includes completed sales, qualified enquiries, installer feedback, repeat orders, customer photos, search terms and return reasons.

2. Compatibility confidence

Has the product been verified with the exact Starlink Mini and the intended installation environment?

For SatHarbor’s current mounts, the distinction is clear:

  • The Magnetic Mount is an exterior vehicle mount for suitable magnetic metal surfaces. When correctly installed on an appropriate surface, it is designed for vehicle-travel scenarios, including high-speed road use.
  • The Suction Cup Mount is an interior vehicle mount for suitable clean, smooth glass such as panoramic sunroofs and appropriate windows. It is not an exterior roof-mounting product.

These are two different applications, not two interchangeable versions of the same mount.

3. Revision confidence

How likely is the target hardware or mounting interface to change during the inventory period?

Exact-fit products carry higher revision exposure than more modular accessories. Packaging and instructions can also become obsolete even when the physical mount remains usable.

Map Revision Exposure by Product Type

Accessory type Typical revision exposure Main risk
Exact-fit terminal cradle High Small dimensional changes can prevent fit
Mount with replaceable terminal interface Medium Base may remain usable while adapter changes
Power cable/adapter High Voltage, protocol or connector changes
Shaped carrying case High New enclosure no longer fits
Retail packaging/instructions Medium Compatibility or application wording becomes outdated
Replacement hardware Low–Medium Dimensions/materials still need control

This exposure level should influence order depth, packaging commitment and private-label timing.

Current Mini Mounts: Stock the Application, Not the Category

Magnetic Mount

The magnetic product is relevant where customers want Starlink Mini outside the vehicle and have a suitable magnetic metal surface with enough flat contact area.

Vehicle travel can be part of the application, but the reseller still needs to communicate correct installation, clean contact areas, secure terminal retention, cable control, inspection and separate Starlink/service/regulatory requirements.

Do not copy a Starlink service speed into the mount listing as though it were the mount’s own universal speed rating.

Suction Cup Mount

The suction product serves a different customer: someone who wants the Mini inside the vehicle beneath suitable glass and values a removable installation.

Panoramic sunroofs and appropriate interior windows are the main environments to evaluate. The product should not be promoted as an exterior fallback when a roof is aluminum or fiberglass.

Vehicle glass can also differ in tint, coatings and RF performance, so customers should test the actual position rather than assuming all glass behaves the same.

Product Information Becomes More Valuable as the Market Grows

Fast-growing categories attract first-time buyers. First-time buyers make predictable mistakes.

A reseller therefore needs:

  • exact terminal compatibility;
  • clear inside/outside installation logic;
  • surface-comparison images;
  • dimensions;
  • installation photographs;
  • unsuitable-use examples;
  • package-content images;
  • cable guidance;
  • supported claims and clear limitations.

Good product information is not only customer service. It protects inventory by improving order quality.

OEM Buyers Need Formal Change Control

A growing platform encourages buyers to move quickly into private label. The faster the category moves, the more important specification control becomes.

An OEM file should include:

  • exact compatible terminal;
  • product revision;
  • drawing and dimensions;
  • materials;
  • critical components;
  • approved physical sample;
  • application boundary;
  • instruction version;
  • packaging;
  • batch identification;
  • written change-notification requirement.

For magnetic products, the validated vehicle-travel configuration should not be altered silently. For suction products, the interior-only positioning should remain consistent across packaging, listings and distributor materials.

A Practical Inventory Decision

Before approving a larger order, ask:

  1. Do we have sales evidence for this exact application?
  2. Has the product been tested with the exact current terminal?
  3. Can the supplier reproduce the approved sample?
  4. Will the hardware remain commercially relevant through the inventory period?
  5. Can we explain the product’s application clearly enough to prevent predictable incorrect orders?

A "no" may mean fewer units, another sample, delayed custom packaging, better instructions or a separate SKU—not necessarily abandoning the product.

What the Q2 Growth Really Means for Resellers

The market is becoming larger and more international. That makes disciplined product selection more important, not less.

The strongest accessory businesses will know which terminal the product fits, where the product belongs, what the approved sample is, and how much inventory the evidence justifies.
